Legal Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Officer to join our dynamic team in Abuja. As a Legal Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the legal compliance and integrity of our organization's operations. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Legal Compliance:
* Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
* Provide guidance on legal matters affecting the organization's operations.
* Conduct legal research to stay informed about changes in laws and regulations.
Contract Management:
* Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
* Ensure that contracts and agreements align with the organization's policies and legal requirements.
* Collaborate with relevant departments to review and assess contract terms and conditions.
Risk Management:
* Identify legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate such risks.
* Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
* Provide legal advice on potential risks associated with business decisions.
Dispute Resolution:
* Handle legal disputes and litigation matters. * Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary.
* Work towards amicable resolutions and settlements when possible.
Policy Development:
* Assist in the development and implementation of organizational policies.
* Ensure that policies are in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Training and Awareness:
* Conduct legal training sessions for staff to enhance awareness of legal issues.
* Keep staff informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting their areas of work.
Record Keeping:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date legal records and documentation.
* Prepare and maintain legal reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Law from a recognized institution; additional qualifications such as a Master's degree will be an advantage.
* Proven experience working as a Legal Officer or in a similar role.
* Sound knowledge of Nigerian laws and regulations.
* Strong research and analytical skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
* Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
